Let’s Talk Metal

In reality, alot of the garden furnishings offered withinside the UK has some form of weather-resistance to varying degrees. However, it is important to be open and honest that this does not mean WEATHERPROOF, even the highest grades of weather-resistant materials will show signs of wear and tear after a few years, even with only seasonal use.

For example, wood furnishings if left exposed will begin to soak up moisture. Plastic furnishings will not absorb water, however, they are more prone to colour fading caused by direct strong sunlight.

Now we come to metal.

In the United Kingdom, even withinside the summer time we are able to see lots of wind and rain. We only stock products that we believe are designed to handle both. Metal is waterproof, so is not prone to the warping of wood and does not fade as easily in direct sunlight as plastic.

If there’s one con, then it may get warm in direct sunlight, metal can get hot. However, this can be easily countered with some basic cushions or a well-placed parasol.

How are you able to preserve and similarly guard our outside fixtures from the elements?

A stitch in time saves nine.

Keep it clean and you’ll be able to maintain that ‘new look’ for longer. Clean as you go, do not allow leaves, bird ‘droppings’, mustard stains etc. to remain and become embedded.

That’s why, when not in use, many people still opt for furniture covers. Even when the weather is still great, keeping furniture covered prevents dust and grime build up that can cause early signs of wear and tear.

Whilst our solid aluminium is inherently waterproof, you could similarly enhance it with additional weather protection waxes etc.

For a basic clean, just wash with warm soapy water and a sponge, rinse with water and let it air dry.
